All of my life I hve been fascinated by the drawings, etchings and water colours of Thomas Harrison Hair, Hair first published his wonderful water colour collection of Northumbrian and Durham Collieries in 1839; the demand was such that he had to reprint the book in 1844. The book was again a complete sell out. After overwhelming demand as the years went on the paintings were republished in 1897, by 'Davis Books Ltd' of Newcastle, where again the demand was such that only a few copies are available now.

Although these books were well laid out and produced, information on Hair was minimal, I have researched his background a little further and added some further details that I know should be of interest to a great many people.
